Breathing exercises are simple but not simplistic exercises that can help us reconnect deeply with the essence of our being bringing us to the here and now. At a physiologicallevel we manage to relax profoundly, our blood becomes highly oxygenated balancing our PH and making it less acidic, deep breathing kickstarts the inmune system and helps to regulate anxiety and fear sending a message to the amygdala ‘all is good’. Superficial breathing does the complete opposite. Think of the times you felt fear or anxiety, breathing becomes irregular and superficial, in extreme cases we might even hyperventilate.
