Hello, let me introduce myself...
I became an early years teachers in my early 20s and enjoyed teaching young children very much, however after moving to Beijing and after the birth of my first son I gravitated towards Chinese medicine and psychology, I finally took the plunge to start a new career.
I studied health sciences and psychology in the UK and during summer breaks I did a diploma in youth counselling to enrich and expand my learning. Once I finished my degree I completed a masters in humanistic psychotherapy with Dr. Zurita and his beloved wife and psychologist Macarena Chias, both are pioneers in the field of humanistic psychotherapy in Spain. Ive done my own therapy because I firmly believe in the importance of doing ones own inner work before attempting to help others. At the moment Im focusing my time and energy on my clients and learning bodywork techniques for those who need attention at this level.
What is integrative humanisitic psychotherapy?
The methodology I use in humanistic psychotherapy applies a variety of techniques and tools that can help us resolve conflicts at a deep emotional and practical level. Cognitive behavioural methods help us change thinking patterns and behaviours, yet emotional resolution of problems can help us create changes which are rooted very deeply in our psyche. Sometimes we develop sabotaging thought and behaviour patterns, yet we don’t understand where they arise from, this is because oftentimes they originate during preverbal phases and they’re archived in our unconscious. Our emotions are oftentimes an entry gate to access important information which can liberate us from a life script that’s not working for us, with awareness and understanding we can make a conscious effort to make these changes. A therapeutic relationship can offer safety and tools to help us work on understanding and resolving all the patterns that haven’t worked for us so far. In essence, humanistic psychotherapy can help improve our self concept and reach our full potential.
My aim as a psychotherapist is to assist you with compassionate care, towards your own process of personal growth, full autonomy and wellbeing. During each session I'll guide you gently and at your own pace to work through situations and problems which cause distress or conflicts in your life. I use a variety of techniques mostly involving gestalt, transactional analysis, relational and existential psychotherapy.
